Meet Chinyere Ifediora
A creative spirit with a heart for children’s literature, Chinyere draws inspiration from everyday childhood moments—hers, her children’s, and the many little readers she encounters.

Meet Joy Ufomadu

Joy Ufomadu is an author, storyteller, singer and songwriter. Her creative work explores themes of love, advocacy, joy and growth. Her Chinyere Series is a children’s book series that sparks conversations around self-love, acceptance, imagination and new ideas.

She is inspired by what we all can be. It is important to her that children know who they are and feel inspired to become their greatest desires.

Fun Fact:
Joy was born in the southern United States, raised in a small historic city and now works in New York City. Museums are her safe space.

She is inspired by her younger self and by children. She writes the kind of books she needed as a child and wants to help children discover their creativity and abilities. Libraries were her safe and exciting space growing up.

The KLF Spot On “Àrẹ̀mọ Gemini” @aremogemini
Poet. Storyteller. Culture keeper.

Àrẹ̀mọ Gemini is the author of the powerful Yorùbá novel Ṣẹ̀gílọlá Arómirẹ́ Ògìdán and creator of Ìyá Mi Òṣòròngà, a poetry performance that honours women and tradition. His work celebrates Yorùbá culture and gives voice to people whose stories are often overlooked.

Creative Recommendation: Ṣẹ̀gílọlá Arómirẹ́ Ògìdán. He also recommends Dreaming of Ways to Understand You by Jerry Chiemeke and A Very Gidi Christmas by Tomilola Coco.

Fun fact: He knows nothing about sports and he’s perfectly fine with that.

Creative inspiration:
My creative works heavily draws from present life realities, particularly the ones happening below the pyramid. Female emancipation comes to fore and marginalised stories, also.

Why Do You Create For Children?: My art draws on the premise of a Yorùbá proverb which states that ‘Orò tí a bá ń ṣe, tí à ń lé ọmọdé níbẹ̀ yóò padà parun ni’ - ‘if we consistently chase children away from witnessing an ongoing tradition, such tradition will eventually perish in the span of time”.

I believe real stories need a platform beyond hashtags.

Creative Inspiration: My work centres on the lived experiences of neurodiverse children and their families, told through stories that uplift, inform and invite empathy. I write about moments we often overlook: the first words after months of silence, a sibling’s hug, the mother who choses hope again and again.

I am inspired by resilience, by the families who keep showing up, by children who teach us new definition of brilliance, by community, and the belief that storytelling is activism with rhythm.

Why do you create for children? :
Because the stories children shape how they see themselves and how the world sees them. I write to widen the lens.

As a behaviour analyst and an autism mom, I know that representation isn’t just « nice to have », it is a lifeline. I want every child to find their place on the page and every parent to find hope between the lines.
